See It Straight: A Half-Day Retreat on Right View
with devon + nico hase
Saturday, January 9, 2027 · 10 am to 1 pm Pacific time
The path opens with a claim about how things actually work.
That your actions matter and ripen. That suffering is real, that it has a cause, that the cause can end, and that there’s a way to end it. Right View is taking that seriously enough to test it against your own life.
It’s first on the path for a reason. Everything downstream depends on which way you’re facing. Get the view wrong, mistake the causes of suffering, treat your actions as if they vanish without consequence, and the whole path bends the wrong direction. Get it even roughly right and the rest has somewhere to go.
What We’ll Explore Together
In this half-day online retreat, devon + nico open the year’s series with Right View, the factor the whole path rests on. We’ll look plainly at the Buddha’s core claims: that craving drives suffering, that what we do has consequences, that freedom is actually possible. We’ll hold them up against experience and see what stands.
The morning begins with an opening conversation around the theme, followed by lightly guided sitting and walking practice, and closes with a dharma talk and time for questions.
A Full Path of Practice—Rooted in Community
🪴 Monthly Half-Day Retreats – This is the first in an annual series of eight online half-days offered by Refuge of Belonging, a dharma community rooted in presence and open to all.
🪴 The Eightfold Path – The Buddha’s eightfold path is the heart of the practice: eight interwoven factors, from view and intention to mindfulness and concentration, that together form a complete way of living and waking up.
🪴 devon + nico – Refuge of Belonging’s guiding teachers lead the series together, trading off and teaching in pairs across the year, bringing both monastic depth and a grounded, contemporary voice to the path.
